Let us see what hacking means first, hacking is an attempt to exploit a computer system or a private network inside a computer. Nowadays, hacking is a field that people excel in for their careers. But in this rapidly developing field, we should also know the history of the term hacking.

THE START OF HACKING - 

The very first hacking incident happened before computers ever existed. According to legend, the first hackers appeared about 1878. Young telephone operators played practical jokes on callers by switching phone lines shortly after the discovery of the telephone and just two years after the founding of Alexander Graham Bell's renowned telephone firm. This demonstrated one of the earliest instances of a technical flaw being used against the user.

The phrase "hacking" first appeared in the mid-1900s at MIT, but it actually started with train sets, not computers. The prestigious school's students began hacking railway sets, earning them the nickname "hackers." Later, the conduct was linked to modifying a computer's technical specifications in order to use it differently than intended.
